A few beginner tips

I just thought tonight I would throw out a few beginner tips that will save you from a lot of work cleaning up a computer.

  1. If a website tells you you have to install a toolbar to use it leave the site
  2. Don't download something you don't know what is.
  3. Don't install something just because it popped up and told you to.
  4. If you suddenly get an email or message from a friend that has an attachment that you were not expecting don't open it until you check with your friend to make sure they sent it.
  5. I suggest using either Google Chrome or FireFox for your browser instead of Internet Explorer they are much safer
  6. When you do install programs watch for any check boxes or anything that mentions it installing toolbars or addons and uncheck these boxes before installing the program
These tips will help prevent you from getting a lot of the malware that is out there. With 70,000+ new threats coming out per day we all need to do everything we can to protect our computers.
If you think your computer already has malware I would highly suggest getting Malware Bytes to remove it you can pick it up Here

Malwarebytes

Today is one of the most important tips I can give. Malware is the number one cause of computers running slow. It can do a lot of different things to a computer including spying on what you are doing, tracking your activities for advertising, corrupting files on your computer, and even causing the dreaded blue screen of death.
This tip most advanced users will already be familiar with because most of us already have it, but for the beginners I bring you MalwareBytes it is the best malware removal tool on the market. They have a free version but I would highly suggest getting the premium one as it will run in the background to help keep your computer clean. It also does a better job of cleaning. And best of all it is $24.95 for a license that covers 3 computers so you can protect the whole house. Click the link below to get it.

Computer issues

Another quick tip for the computer and the number one tip is if your computer is acting up restart it and then try what you were doing again. As computers run the memory does not always clear out when a program is closed and some programs have what are called memory leaks which will gradually keep using more and more memory. So if you catch yourself saying " My computer is very slow today" simply turning it off and back on.

Internet issues

I wanted to offer a few quick tips to help with common issues. So some of these posts will be really short.

A lot of internet issues can be solved by simply unplugging the power from the modem and if you have one router, for 30 seconds then plug it back in. It can take a few minutes for the internet to come back up, and if your phone goes through the internet it will most likely be down during this time.

For the ones reading this that are beginners the modem is the box from the internet provider. If you cant trace the power cord back to the wall or surge protector on most modems the power cord is the smallest cord on the modem and most of the time has a round plug that will pull out easily, it will not be the one that has to unscrew.

System Mechanic

The software I am bringing you today is a long standing favorite of mine. I have used System Mechanic for around 15 years now. System Mechanic is an all in one tool to clean and repair systems. One of the things I really like with system mechanic is it does not matter if you are a novice or advanced user you will be able to use it. For the Beginners you can click the repair all button and let it do it's thing. For the more advanced users you can customize what it fixes and what it cleans. This flexibility is one of the reasons I love it.

For customization you can choose if you want it to work in the background, or only when you tell it to, you can tell it what parts you want to run in the background as well.
As for price its really not bad at the bottom of this post I will share a link that at the time of this writing you can buy it for $29.95, I have seen a lot higher for similar tools that do less. This is one of my first suggestions when someone tells me "My computer is very slow" I tell them to checkout System Mechanic and most see a big improvement.

Here are just a few of the things System Mechanic does
  • Repairs registry
  • Accelerates startup
  • Recovers memory leaks
  • Boosts internet speed
  • Defragments drives
  • Stops CPU-hogging processes

Here is the link I promised earlier to get the standard version for $29.95 Click Here
Or Get System Mechanic 14.5 Pro for $39.95. Save $30! [Coupon code: pcutilityiolosm30off].

It's normally $69.95
